About

Myllyrd Fyllmore presents clever coverage of pop culture; reviews of music, tv, movies, books, etc.; media absurdity and political insanity, which often amount to the same thing.

We're smartasses with purpose.  We believe in level playing fields, underdogs, barbecue, questioning authority at every turn, pancakes, city streets, country roads, old jukeboxes, and poetic justice.  We're against snobbery, hipsterism, self-importance, hypocrisy, poor grammar, and anyone who tries to claim a monopoly on patriotism and authenticity.  No one gets to exile us from our own country by saying we're not "real America[ns]."

So this is, at least in part, an effort to take back the best of "real America" for all of us, while rejecting all that's intolerant, hierarchical, or narrow-minded.

Founded in 2002 as a web magazine in Charlottesville, Virginia, we have now relaunched as a blog, based in New York City.
